Homemade Char Siew (Non-Halal)

When I was single, I've always wondered how char siew is prepared? Until now, a mother of two kids baru I know how easy it is to prepare and cook it at home. You have many ways to cook it for example, you can grill, pan fry or bake.

It is juicy and the meat is soft and tender.
I've read some recipes that recommend using char siew sauce and hoisin sauce, but I just wonder why we need to add in? Ok, maybe other people prefer it but since it is homemade I try to avoid all those sauces.  Let me show you the ingredients that I used~
